About La Yapa

La Yapa is my free monthly newsletter about Peru’s food & drink culture, through a vegan lens. In Quechua, Peru’s Indigenous language, yapa means a little something extra, such as a gift given by a vendor, like a baker’s dozen.

By subscribing to my newsletter, you’ll learn about Peruvian cuisine, stay up to date on my latest articles and stories, and receive plant-based recipes with veganizing tips and menu ideas. I’ll also share cookbook recommendations and some of my favorite musica criolla—Peru’s creole music. In the near future, I am hoping to announce events such as cooking classes and pop-up dinners.

And I’ll keep you up to date on my journey to find a publisher for The Vegan Peruvian Kitchen, a cookbook I am developing with 100 plant-based recipes inspired by Peru’s Indigenous, European, African, Chinese, and Japanese heritage.
